The USA’s contribution to Iraq’s so called weapons of mass destruction and more!

So often in political speeches on Iraq it is brought up how Saddam Hussein gassed his own people. What is not talked about in these speeches is that the USA supplied him with many of these chemical agents of which he used to kill innocent Iraqi citizens as well as many Iranians.

This is stated time and time again even though the World’s Largest Arms Dealer the USA supplied him with many of these chemical agents. It is also worth noting that many of the IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) in use in Iraq, which are to this day killing and maiming US soldiers, are made with US supplied munitions. Iraq is awash with arms depots full of American supplied bullets, bombs and explosives, which to date have killed 3803 US soldiers and wounded 27753 with horrific results.

However painful it may be as the facts below point out much of the misery in Iraq and Afghanistan has been and will continue to be in large part because of the USA’s own arms sales to countries of which they have little understanding, yet they hold them to the highest degree of contempt.

The United States feared that Iran would defeat Iraq in their war years 1980 to 1988.

Because of these fears that Iran would export its Islamic Revolution to other Middle Eastern nations, the United States took it upon themselves to give aid to Iraq from 1983 until 1990. During this period the U.S. government approved over $200 million in arms sales to Iraq, this according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

After an investigation by the Senate Banking Committee in 1994 a determination was made that the U.S. Department of Commerce had approved, for the dubious purpose of research, the shipping of dual-use biological agents to Iraq during the mid-1980s.

These agents included Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), which was later identified by the Pentagon as a key part of the Iraqi biological warfare program. It was also determined that Clostridium botulinum, Histoplasma capsulatum, Brucella melitensis, and Clostridium perfringens were sold in this period as well.

The Committee report duly noted that each of these had been “considered by various nations for use in war.” In now declassified U.S. government documents the indication is clear that the U.S. government had confirmed that Iraq was using chemical weapons, but not biological weapons that the agents being exported could have been used for had Saddam Hussein so desired.

It was also noted that these agents were used consistently during the conflict beginning in 1983 on a daily basis. During the investigation by the committee the chairman Don Riegle, Stated, “The executive branch of our government approved 771 different export licenses for sale of dual-use technology to Iraq. I think it’s a devastating record”.

For the record I do not condone the senseless killing and maiming of the people of this world especially US soldiers, they are only pawns used by corporate interests to further their goals.

To the soldiers who have died and those whose horrific injuries will plaque them for untold years to come, you have my prayers and may God Bless you. When will the USA wake up and realize that playing games with the lives of millions is nothing if not a deadly heartbreaking disaster waiting to happen. How many more soldiers and innocent civilians will need to be killed or horribly maimed before we end this current conflict in Iraq!
